Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Grant Ranch website. We meet every Friday morning from 7 to 8 AM at the IHOP on Bowles and Long Drive. The address is 7733 W Long Drive, Littleton CO 80123; phone #303-904-9609. Kiwanis is an international service organization comprised of 600,000 adult and youth members in 91 nations whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children and families worldwide. Service Slogan "Serving the Children of the World" History The first Kiwanis club was organized in Detroit, Michigan, in 1915. Kiwanis became international with the organization of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario, in 1916. Kiwanis limited its membership to the United States and Canada until 1962, when worldwide expansion was approved. Since then, Kiwanis has spread to all the inhabited continents of the globe.

May 14, 2012
Called to Order: 7:01 PM
Attendees: Tom Ashe, Ginger Barnhart, Sandy Blomeyer, Dave Collings, George Kinzer, Maryann and Tom Krzemien, Kay Thacker, Bill and Sara West
Budget: April, 2012 budget was reviewed and approved.
Expenses for March:
1. Speaker Meals
2. Ice Cream Social deposit for Balloon Man and Sunset Park Damage Deposit.
3. Kiwanis International Foundation Annual Skip a Meal.
Minutes: April, 2012 Board Minutes was approved.
Discussion:
1. Fishing Derby May 26, Saturday – food Hazel will work with Donna at the Village Center.
2. Ice Cream Social June 2, Saturday, 3-5 PM Sunset Park at Grant Ranch Blvd and Jay Circle:
a. Banner for Grant Ranch
b. Activities: Face Painting, Juggler, Musician, Children’s Hospital Jungle Mobile, 2 West Metro Fire Trucks are confirmed.
c. Juggler– George will contact.
d. Tom K. has ordered 4 – three gallons of Liks ice cream and will get the toppings from Super Toppings and syrups.
e. Ice Cream scoops ask members to loan them for the event.
f. King Soopers gift certificate for paper bowls, spoons, and napkins.
g. Stickers for car seats - Hazel
h. List of people and companies that have given donations to send thanks you cards.
i. Walkie Talkies – Tom Ashe.
j. Parking at Grant Ranch School. Check with Blue Heron to use their parking lot – Sandy.
k. Flyers and banner add Free and the names of the streets – Kay.
l. Grant Ranch Students make signs saying Sunset Park and arrows pointing toward the park. Put the signs on the Grant Ranch School’s fence.
m. Cones to block park entrance - Sandy and Tom.
n. Notices:
1. Blue Heron Elementary School email and on their sign board - Pete has not received a response.
2. Grant Ranch K-8 School put banner on fence and flyers for take home folder.
3. Hand out flyers at the Fishing Derby
3. Nobuo Miyaki resignation was accepted.
4. A new nomination committee was setup to nominate officers for 2012/2013 (Sandy Blomeyer, Tom Ashe and George Kinzer) to met Wednesday, May 16, at 6:30 AM at the Columbine Club’s meeting place (Pierce and Ken Caryl Ave). Nominations are for President, President Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, and 3 Director Positions to replace Kay Thacker, Sara West, and Dave Collings.
5. Next Board Meeting June 11 at 6:00 PM.
New Business:
1. Service Project nominations for Good Bears, Metro Fire Marshall, Arapahoe Philharmonic, and Police Volunteering were requested. All Service Project Nominations were approved by the Board.
